Spring

Spring the season when a man’s heart is at its fullest fancy etc etc. Its also a season of allergies. Also the season when most Japanese people pretend to be very busy. The season when the wasps and the bee’s come out. When you see so many flowers popping open. Spring brings with it howling winds, perhaps winds of change. Spring hail falls from the sky and destroy’s many hopes of good harvest. It is when the roaches appear from under the kitchen drain. I must admit I have mixed feelings about this season. It is short here but it does make its presence felt.

Every year I wait for the pear tree outside to erupt in to blossoms. It does not disappoint. It lies dormant through most of the winter and then suddenly and without warning it gets laden with white blossoms that litter the lawn. This week I took a small trip in to the mountains and I could also see some cherry blossoms. However I did not make any pictures of them so for the sake of ceremony I am putting a small collection of Japanese cherry blossoms. I hope you all enjoy your spring wherever you may be unless you are down south in which case hard cheese!

Yes, its spring here in Austin too. And we have a comparatively longer one here compared to Chandigarh, it lasts until the end of May, which is when summer begins.

Did you grow those cherry blossoms in Chandigarh ?

  • Priyank says:

I like Cherry Blossoms :) They make spring feel like spring. Unfortunately we don’t have many in my neighborhood in Toronto. In Mumbai, we only had pictures… :P

@ Vikram : I did not realise Austin was so cold. Any way I am already thinking about dusting the Air conditioners next…

There are no cherry blossoms in Chandigarh though there are in the mountains around us. Someone told me that Cherry wood is expensive and the trees would simply not last in India :-) Anyway these blossoms are from Ueno in Tokyo.

@ Priyank : I like most fruit blossoms. Howevere most of the flowering trees in Chandigarh are legumes etc. Although they have their own beauty. I am not sure about what trees bloom in Bombay but you must have had some?

  • odzer says:

@ Arpit : Oh I am glad then that you have found this one. Thanks for blogrolling me I will make my disappeared blogroll appear again and add you as well.

  • Priyank says:

Dude Mumbai is tropical. We don’t have fall and spring to that degree. All I remember is the gulmohar tree, very red and firey! Plus my neighborhood was a concrete jungle.

  • Mahendra says:

I truly discovered ’spring’ only when I went abroad into the northen latitudes. As Pu La says, Mumbai has only two seasons – summer and rainy!

Odzer, I like your writing style. Hope to spend more time reading your blog…
